Winnabow, North Carolina, is an unincorporated area west of Wilmington and south of Leland in Brunswick County. It’s a rural area made up of mainly forest and farm land that’s dotted with remnants of wars past. Tucked away in its trees is Brunswick Town, which was built during the Revolutionary War, razed, and then built over as Fort Anderson during the Civil War.

Despite what appears to be an advantageous military location, Winnabow has remained quiet and undeveloped. Only in the past decade have new communities begun popping up near the Leland border, where the population is growing quickly.
