W. Long Beach is one of the western-most communities on Oak Island. It's about half of a mile from The Point, a popular outdoor recreation area that overlooks Lockwood Folly Inlet and is a great place to fish and find ocean "treasures" at low tide.
Construction on current homes in W. Long Beach began in the 1950s. There are about 930 properties in this community, including single-family homes, lots, and condos. Homes range from 500 sq.ft. to 5,300 sq.ft. with 2-10 bedrooms and 1-7 bathrooms. Garages are rare, but many homes have covered parking.
Because the W. Long Beach is located on a narrow section of Oak Island, there are oceanfront, inlet front, and marsh front homes. The beach is always within walking distance, and the views are gorgeous.
Dining and convenience store options are about 9 minutes away. The fishing pier is about a 10 minute drive, and groceries are about 13 minutes. Even more options are located on the mainland.
