Carolina Forest is a large residential neighborhood located off Ramsey Road on the north side of Jacksonville, about 20-25 minutes from the main gate of Camp Lejeune. Carolina Forest Elementary School is located within walking distance of many of the homes and Northside High School is just a 10 minute drive away. Inside the community is a swimming pool, clubhouse, and playground.
Construction in Carolina Forest began in 2005 and continued into the late 2010s. Properties include both townhouses and single-family homes. The townhouses range from 992 - 1,200 sq.ft. and have 1.5 to 3-story options, many with screened porches and private outdoor areas. Single-family houses start at 1,210 sq.ft. and go up to around 3,600 sq.ft. There are 1 and 2-story floor plans available, but 2-story homes are most common. Exterior features include elements of Southern, Craftsman, and European styles, and front porches are a popular feature. Interiors features vary, but may include coffered ceilings, fireplaces, wainscoting, wood flooring, granite counters, two-story foyers, trey ceilings, and master suites with separate showers and walk-in closets.
