Carolina Beach Lake Park is one of the busiest event hubs on Pleasure Island. Located at 400 S Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach, this 11-acre lake is just 2 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean and is noted for being one of the closest freshwater lakes to a body of saltwater. Bordered by a paved walking trail, it’s a popular destination for dog walkers, pleasure strollers, and bicyclists. There are 4 gazebos located along the trail that allow visitors to take in relaxing views of the water, the fountain at its center, and aquatic birds that call the park home.
Visitors can also enjoy a trip out on the lake. There is no fishing or swimming, but a local company provides pedal boat and kayak rentals. These are available from March to September, and are fun options for spending time with family and friends. The park also has restrooms, a picnic area, playground, and the Stingray Amphitheater, which is most identifiable from above.
Events are held throughout the year at Carolina Beach Lake Park. During the summer, there is a Saturday morning Farmers’ Market and free outdoor family movies on Sunday evenings. Visitors bring blankets, chairs, and snacks, and enjoy a popular movie under the stars. During the holidays is the annual “Island of Lights: The Lighting at the Lake” event in which beautiful light displays are set up all around the lake. They can be enjoyed in a self-guided tour from the walking trail. There are also random events held throughout the year, like marathons and 5Ks.
