Calabash, NC, is a small fishing town at the North Carolina - South Carolina border. Due to its abundance of seafood, its been called the "Seafood Capital of the World" and even has its own unique cuisine, "Calabash Style", which includes covering the seafood in a light batter and deep frying it. Due to its distinction, Calabash has a strong restaurant scene and attracts foodies from NC and SC.

Brunswick County has around 30 golf courses within 15 square-miles of the SC border, so Calabash is also popular with golf lovers. The golf courses in Calabash are:

Also of note is Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club in Carolina Shores.

While Calabash isn't oceanfront, the Calabash River does run through the town. It connects to the Intracoastal Waterway and offers visitors the opportunity to boat into town, eat at one of the waterfront restaurants, and enjoy water views. There are also multiple communities with lakes and waterfront properties.

For residents who want to enjoy some time at the beach, Sunset Beach is just 5 miles away and Ocean Isle Beach is a 10-minute drive. For more entertainment and dining options, North Myrtle Beach is 20 minutes away.
